This is the first newsletter in our four-part series about the proposed state intervention in Memphis-Shelby County Schools.
In this issue, we explain two separate, but related, bills being considered in the TN House (HB 0662) and Senate (SB 0714) to design a method for state intervention in Memphis-Shelby County Schools in response to recent years of public turmoil.

Meet the Fellows: Erica Daily
Erica Daily joined Seeding Success through the National Urban Fellowship, which helps match talented and diverse professionals to public service organizations. She comes from Atlanta, Georgia and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Non-Profit Leadership from Georgia State University.
Returning Neighbors: Healing Memphis Through Better Re-entry
Seeding Success joined the Shelby County Office of Reentry, the Center for Research in Educational Policy (CREP) at the University of Memphis, Hope Credit Union, and Hospitality Hub to receive a grant of $999,101 to fund a study of the Returning Neighbors program.
Seeding Success Unveils New Leadership Structure
Jamilica Burke, a Memphis native with a passion for education and community empowerment, has been promoted to President. In this role, she will oversee local partnerships and strategic initiatives, and lead the implementation of More for Memphis, a key initiative focused on aligning resources to enhance economic mobility in Memphis and Shelby County.
