The Shelby County
Community Schools
Partnership
Community schools are hubs for the resources and essential services that youth and families need!
Evidence shows that using neighborhood schools as a base for things like healthcare access, food pantries, or career assistance ensures better outcomes for students.
The Shelby County Community Schools Partnership (SCCSP) focuses on providing for communities in Frayser, Northaven, and Millington through the full-service community schools model.
A key aspect of the partnership is evaluating what programs and interventions work best and considering what changes can further improve student outcomes.
This partnership empowers multiple local education agencies to offer vital services, including:
Early childhood care
Needs assessment and coordination
Expanded learning opportunities
Mental and physical healthcare
College and career pathways
The Shelby County Community Schools Partnership is made possible by a five-year, $15 million federal grant and $15 million match from local funds. The investment will support improved outcomes for roughly 3,400 families and students each year across Frayser, North Memphis, and Millington.
Over this five-year period, the Center for Research in Educational Policy (CREP) at the University of Memphis will conduct an impact evaluation of the SCCSP and determine best practices to be expanded across Shelby County. Our goal is to make sure every child and family in the county has what they need to thrive.
